40 takeout boxes anyone?

It's office pack up time, which means a little bit of spring cleaning. We have decided to see if anyone is interested in about 40 white Chinese takeout boxes (I believe that's a good description of them). There are maybe 42, so if anyone wants them for $10 bucks, you know how to find us.

Albertine's famous!!

So we all kind of expected a lot of our dear little friend...being so cool and all...but to have an album named after her??? HOLY!! That's big time. I almost feel insignificant next to her. My palms are all sweaty and shaky.

OK so we're not sure how Brooke Fraser found out about Albertine, but the word is out. I found proof on a main street post.

view pictures of this design

A little blue skies and daisies website feature that we haven't really used to it's full potential is the fantastic "view pictures of this design". Some photos were available, in the Ready2Wear catalogue and the custom portfolio, but we recently updated the catalogue designs with more cool pics from actual weddings or just shots from our studio.

There's a chance you didn't even know this existed, so here's where you find it:The best part about this is you can see how couples have customized our designs to make it their own.

I've compiled a short list of some of the designs that we've updated, so you can see what we're talking about. Over time we will be uploading new pictures, hopefully more from the wedding, but we can't be greedy.

show and tell #5 - Ready2Wear

When we started our wedding design catalogue we knew that no matter what we did, couples will want to customize it for their wedding. That's precisely why we design the way we do, so that you can apply your wedding colours, include your own photo and who knows what else. If you want it, we can quote it.

So here are some examples of how couples have customized their own ready2wear design.

1. Betty's Garden - Vicky and Darren's wedding invitation
Vicky and Darren customized this really popular wedding invitation with their own wedding colours and included email rsvp information on the inside left panel, instead of sending out the rsvp postcard. It was printed on 100% recycled paper, which gave it real organic look.

2. Bunny Love - Julie and Randy's wedding invitation and thank you card
This design allows couples to choose what bunny images (pick from 8 photographs) they want on their wedding stationery. Julie and Randy also decided to customize the font colours, which made their names really pop out. Fantastic!

3. It's Not A Thistle - Ruby and Gus' pre wedding party invitations
Ruby and Gus customized this wedding invitation by turning it into 2 separate pre-wedding party invites. The rsvp was the baptism invite and the 1 fold card invited friends and family to their engagement party. Genius really!!

wildlife, birthdays and videotape

My time in Fernie is coming to an end. I'm sure you're all wondering "what's it like for brina all the way in Fernie?" and "How does she do it?" and maybe even "what the hell is she doing?"

well here is the answer...

1. I'm taking care of my healing buddy. As an update, he's driving, walking, running, biking and doing all the activities he was doing before the surgery, but at the speed of a snail. STILL! Improvements galore. I also gave him a hair cut. Say hello to his new hair cut!

2. I'm always on the look out for wildlife. I don't always have a camera with me, like the time I saw the field full of elk or all the bald eagles and hawks I see in the sky, or even the curious hummingbirds. But this is proof of all the other wild buddies I did see...

3. I celebrated my 31st birthday. Best birthday ever...unless we're counting last year cuz last year was PRETTY awesome.

4. The coolest part of my trip was being surprised by a little bear cub outside our bedroom window. Here's a small clip of him eating grass. You don't know how hard it was to NOT go out and give him/her a big hug.

Wedding Mapper and Google Maps

Not so long ago we were introduced to this new cool free service, which most brides utilizing any online wedding tool could easily take advantage of. Personalized Online Wedding Maps!

Through Wedding Mapper, you can create an interactive map with all your wedding day plans. They give you cute little icons (cute icons that can actually be replaced with your own photos/icons) to make it friendly and playful looking. There are pop up windows which display addresses, photos of the location and also include space for your own personal note.

This is a pretty cool map idea to go along with a wedding website or evite. Just saying!

Google My Maps offers the exact same service sans cute icons, as long as you have a google account. Either way, it's all very easy and cool.

Introducing to you: Re: Kismet

This new design, affectionately titled Re: Kismet, has made me believe in love again. Juuuuuust kidding. I have always believed in love. But seriously, I think it's really cool.

It's about Kismet.

You know those times that you can't explain, like when you knew what someone was going to say before they said it? or when you meet someone in the most unexpected way? or when you cross paths with someone in the most remote place? This design represents those fantastic moments of Kismet...which is I guess could represent every moment...even this one right now.

To see more of Kismet, and all of it's 16 wedding stationery pieces, check this out.

i like to smash things

Greetings blog buddies :D Teenie, here, just wanting to share a little bit of my Sunday-last, cause it was such a fun time!

Friends of Ben's and mine, Mike & Melinda (who, by the way, got married in Vegas last September!), bought cottage property out in Mission last year and the "super-character-filled" shabin (as I like to call it) definitely needed some TLC to get it up to summer 2008 weekend party speed.

They've enlisted their friends (under Ben's guidance) to build a new deck to replace the old dilapidated deck that currently surrounds the cabin. Since all the kidlets live on the island, it was only fitting to plan a day trip out there prior to the construction...to, obviously, deconstruct :)

Last Sunday, Coghills came by to pick Benny and I up, in their new Highlander, and took us out to Mission (with a double-double stop along the way!!) and gave us some gloves and a hammer and we SMASHED STUFF!

cabin pre-smashing

Their dock for when we get a party barge :D

illegal deck building in the neighbourhood. shhhh!

After getting off to a chilly start, seeing the fruits of our gardening labour last month go down the tubes (the marigold and potato growth is CRAZY!), falling through one of the rotted out boards in the deck (holy), the boys making a RONA run for a "SAW'S ALL" (let me digress for one sec: all day up until we got back into the car to head home I though they were saying "sawzah, sawzah". Weirdos.)---we finally hit our stride and the smashing came easy and naturally.

With a lunch break and a rain break (the sun finally came out in the afternoon), the four of us really came together and killed it. Smashing, smashing...roof gone! Smashing, smashing...railing gone! Smashing, smashing...DECK GONE!

So, you know, if you ever need to get out any pent up frustrations, you should really try smashing stuff. Minus the rusty nails in my leg, it's super fun!

the fruits of our labour

Lastly, I just want all of you to meet someone. This little cotton-ball of a dog decided to come by and visit with its owner (lifers in the grounds). It was all hey look at me, I'm so pretty, pet me, pet me...so we were all awww okay, we'll pet you, look at you, pretty little cotton ball.

That is, until the owner walked a decent enough distance away and no one was looking and I turned to look at it and noticed it was staring at me--

And within seconds, it was running at me and I'm all open-arms, awww come 'ere YOU! and rather than be a sweet poof of a dog instead it ran straight for my leg and started having relations :| BAD cotton ball! BAD COTTON BALL!!!

Introducing to you: Argyle Eddy

We have been busy busy busy over here!!! Our Ready2Wear catalogue is growing every month with new original wedding designs. I realize that a lot of the stationery we put together wouldn't appeal to all brides and grooms, as there are specific themes and ideas inside our designs, but that's hopefully why we stand out.

Today I'm introducing a new design called Argyle Eddy. It was my experiment with typography. There are 3 styles of fonts used in this design, each playing their own part and still working together as a team. When you add argyle to the mix, you have something you didn't expect...something cool and simple but with a personality.

To see what Argyle Eddy is all about, check it out here.

Have a great day!

Introducing to you: ...Flock Together

I am SO excited about this new Ready2Wear wedding design!

1st of all, after I designed it and showed Albertine the initial mockup, she told me that she JUST bought a necklace that has an owl on it! WEIRD.

2nd of all, I just think it looks so cool. WEIRD.

I love birds. I love multi textures. I love layering. I love the colours. I hope you do too.

our stumbled links #3

It took me 9 months to put StumbleUpon back on my laptop after the minor glitch. What a waste of time!! If you are unfamiliar with StumbleUpon, it is just an easy way to browse the internet, thanks to the millions of people out there suggesting cool sites. You can limit the websites you browse by changing your preferences. Very cool.

Here are some pages I have stumbled on lately and want to share:

1. Japanese IQ Test
Robo and I did this together. It took a while, but we figured it out as a team. Go ahead! Try it!

2. Street Performance Video
"This is a really cool street performance filmed in Berlin at the Reichstag."
It's true. It's pretty cool! It made me smile.

3. 360 degree panorama of The Great Wall
Because I haven't been too far off of North America, I thought this was really cool...not that I now feel like I have been there...I still would love to go some day and see it personally.

Introducing to you: Microcosm

At random times we will up updating the Ready2Wear catalogue with new and cool wedding design ideas. It happens like this: I have a good idea, I get excited about it and then I make it happen. And that's the story behind Microcosm.

In Albertine's way, I'll give you a bit of a backup story. For the savvy bride showcase we grew 7 pots of wheat grass for our display table, as you can see here, and as I watched the grass grow day after day, I was struck by it's speedy growth and the luscious green colours it exuded with pride. My bedroom felt so fresh and green for 2 weeks!

I drew the grass as though we were inside it's world, peering inside, hunting perhaps? probably not hunting, but definitely observing. Inside this grassy world we have 2 deliciously bright butterflies. Well, close your eyes cuz these 2 butterflies are getting PRETTY friendly.

So that's Microcosm.

To get a little closer to Microcosm's wedding stationery, the way is here.
