our stumbled links #1

Every once in a while we'll post some links that we find very interesting. We're all over the map here, which is nice, spices and life being all variety like is good... or so they say. So in some kind of order:

1. blog.creativekismet.com
It's a crafty blog tutorial. Lots of fun ideas, if you want a little inspiration. I may have to make one of those handy bibs for myself. When my man makes us a little manwich, things get messy!

2. a modern day DaVinci genius?
HOLY! Theo Jansen's wind powered creatures are amazing. A video that completely amazed my mind to the edge of blown away. In other words, It's pretty alright.

3. dinosaur comics
You may or may not have heard of this comic strip. Ryan North takes the same 6 panels and only changes the dialogue, which doesn't seem that funny, but after reading a few they become more and more hilarious. He's from Toronto, and I like Toronto...so there you have it. This particular comic is wedding related. I thought that was fitting.

website overhaul

Times are changing! Teenie and I aren't the same girls we were a year ago...or 4 years ago. We like to see things change and mature, just like us. We're in our 30s now, full time devotees to our little blue skies and daisies business. We no longer work out of our living rooms; We drink only 2 or 3 cups of coffee a day; Daily affirmations keep us grounded and we're feeling great!!

Basically, we are getting better and better.

All these wonderful things = website overhaul.

Our goal is to have a new fancy pants website in the fall. I know we can do it. We are very very busy but we are also determined and full of fun ideas. It's gonna be simple but bigger! New designs, more resources and a completely different layout. You should be excited too. Do it! Get excited!!

Good. Well done.

pictures of fernie

So here it is! I just went outside for 15 minutes and took some shots from Rod's backyard. Very very green and sunny! I tried picking flowers yesterday, like people do in movies, during a quick break, and i was so impressed with the variety I found. I brought them inside, to put them in water, and as I was doing this I see all these little black bugs crawling around the counter and on my pretty wild flowers. WHOPS! I quickly brought them outside. It was nice looking at them through my window...until the tornado type gust of wind blew them all over the ground. Oh nature, you slay me!

fernie to vancouver

A few miles in between tean and bean can't bring us down! I (bean) am working from Fernie for a couple weeks, visiting my special man...in the Fernie Branch, shall we say? I'll post pictures of this little piece of earthly heaven soon. It's just too beautiful here.

Until I post pictures, I wish you a good day!

p.s. HI, TEENIE!! MISS YOU!!!!!!!!

PostSecret

A few days ago I received a book in the mail. It was a present from my friend Charmaine Sue, for my 30th birthday. She's pretty amazing...not only because she sent me a book but because she sent it 3 times. :D sorry char!! But I just wanted to write about it cuz it's a pretty cool idea. This community project involved people sending in their secret, whether it be a fear, betrayal, desire, confession or childhood humiliation. Reveal anything - as long as it is true and you have never shared it with anyone before. Be Brief. Be legible. Be creative.

It became a popular project with it's own blog and hardcover book. I had never heard of it but everyone around me seems to know about it. Since I like sharing, I am writing about it in case you haven't heard of it. It's http://postsecret.blogspot.com/ if you want to see it and read it. It's updated every sunday.

blue skies and daisies in Ireland

we wish!! we didn't actually physically go to Ireland but blue skies and daisies was mentioned in Confetti, an Irish wedding publication. The scan is small so I'll type out what it reads...

"blueskiesanddaisies.com
Why we love it: This Vancouver-based company creates incredible custom invitations with a twist, and designs everything to your specifications. Choose between customized or 'ready-to-wear' template designs for invitations, personal wedding websites, thank you cards and place cards.
Delivery: International clients are welcome and the business is steadily increasing its trade in Ireland and the UK, as word gets around about this talented duo.
Confetti recommends... taking a look at the wedding resource page, which gives advice on everything from folding invitations to what flowers to pick depending on the season."

almost half june

it's the 11th of june already! Time is flying by and we've noticed that summer hasn't really hit vancouver yet. Sneaky summer! You can't fool us! This has been a good and bad thing. Good because we aren't tempted to collect vitamin D in the park during a long lunch break. We are 2 very hard working women when it's rainy and cold. Bad because we're not in our tube tops, short shorts and pumps!! haha kidding! but seriously, I like tube tops. haha no i don't. yes I do. no i don't. i really do.

The key to our success is definitely not rainy days...but here's an update of some of the stuff going on during these productive days. I've made a list.

1. We're on client #238!! Our mothers are so proud.
2. Recently we were featured in an Irish wedding magazine called Confetti. (They are sending a copy in the mail. A soon as we receive it, we'll scan and post cuz it's pretty freak'n exciting.) This has started a fantastic European trend for us. Lots of overseas couples inquiring about our invitations! that. is. very. cool.
3. We love our production table, designed by Ben Krich.
4. We've settled in nicely to our new office. Thought the transition would be difficult, but it wasn't at all. Working from home definitely had it's perks but there's no going back now. We are free :D
5. Teenie participated in the vancouver bike to work week (from may 28th to june 3rd), thanks to her new rocky mountain metro 10. In the end, she was the beautiful blue skies and daisies team leader, participation 100%, finished 10 commutes, co2 savings were 9.80 kg, 187 calories burnt and did a total of 33 km. AMAZING!! Good job, teenie!!

bsd has a table...

thanks to Mr. Benjamin Krich!! He made a production table for us from SCRATCH. It's the most amazing best production table 2 girls who needed a production table could ask for.

christy and george = BFF

It's official. We pretty much have the best clients ever! Christy and George picked up their invitations and the following day hand delivered flowers to us (as we were enjoying our lunch in the park). We took photos obviously. Thanks, guys! Time for coffee. later!!
