you gotta see this wedding dress...

I'm not sure how I got into regularly checking Jasmine photography's blog, which doesn't really matter, but a few days ago I was looking through her recent work and saw this dress! It's such a cool wedding dress! The beautiful wedding photography only makes it look even more sexy and beautiful. I think my mother would be proud to know that I even noticed a dress and called it beautiful.

Erin Wallis • Photographer

The other day a friend came over and was like "oh you do wedding stationery? my cousin does wedding photography in Campbell River. She's really good. Her name is Erin Wallis. E.r.i.n. Erin Wallis. She's my cousin."

The name stuck and the next day I searched for her website. Her work is fantastic! I also found out she's not just a wedding photographer but a very talented photojournalist who has been all over the world. If you're looking for a new perspective on your wedding, maybe check out Erin Wallis' work.

Dragana and David • Wedding Photos

We love it when our couples send us photos!! I'm sure we've stated this before, and it continues to be true. I posted Dragana and David's invitation design in October and on November 8th, at the US Navel Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, they wedded in style! Here are some pictures from their wedding day by the talented Brian Ray. I wish we could have met these two in person as their pictures make them look like loads of fun.

Cool Cherry Blossom Cake

Sarah and Erik just sent us photos of their May 31st wedding at Furry Creek and Albertine and I took note of a really cool detail at their wedding (for us.) Their cake was decorated to look like their blue skies & daisies cherry blossom wedding invitation or at least that's what we think happened.

Whoever created the cake did an amazing job.

We want to show you all their wedding photos but you'll have to wait for that special month when we feature them on our website. So sorry. But here's the cool cherry blossom cake...

Invitation Photography or Not

Pre-Coffee Ramble

I just woke up. I'm pre-coffee and feeling a little drowsy but there is no better time to write about invitation photography than now. It's in my brain and I gotta get it out. The sample above is an invitation for Amber and Shane, who are not yet married but will be very soon. We're working on their place cards and table chart at the moment, but I digress, I mentioned them because they are a good example of outstanding photography in a wedding invitation.

Tacky or Not?

We've heard the argument a few times; is it tacky? is it not tacky? But we believe if it's done right and if you WANT to include a photo, then do it! "Do it," I say again.

Many times we've included photos of couples on their vacation or when they got engaged, which is a really sweet idea, or you might spend a night and go through the folders and folders of photos you have backed up on a disc...which can be fun! Another option is to include a photo from your engagement session with your wedding photographer. It's common to receive a complimentary engagement photo shoot, which benefits the couple and the photographer, and more often than not you'll have one shot that you absolutely love. Amber and Shane, I believe...someone correct me if I'm wrong please, went with Blue Olive Photography for their wedding photography and their photo made a huge difference to the final product. Those photographers really know what they're doing.

It's a subjective argument though. We encourage photos in our invitations because they add a certain personality and style to a design but at the same time we can appreciate a clean, bold design as well. There's no pressure to include a photograph in any wedding invite. It's all about what you want and that's all that matters. Awe. What a happy ending to this story.
