bowling is fun

I'm not the biggest fan of bowling. I generally don't go bowling. However, on Thursday we all had a free night, so I said to the biggest bowling fans "Let's go bowling!"

And of course they dropped what they were doing and got their butts in the car immediately.

Let me introduce to you our bowlers for the evening:

Ben

Teeniebear

Robowler

and Beans

When I was 10 or so I was photographed in Oshawa while bowling and it landed on the front page of the Oshawa Times newspaper. The photo above brings back those memories, memories of slight embarrassment because they had caught me in a moment of pure mid bowling toss splendor and possibly my eyes were half closed and my tongue was hanging out. One day I'll find it, scan it and post it. You'll laugh and I'll laugh and it will be a fun good time.

So back to Thursday...

It was a night of eating and drinking (as you can see by Teenie's face, she was giddy like a school girl)

and picking the ball that whispers in your ear "hey, can i talk to you for a second?"

everyone was competing for the title of champion and would swoop to the lowest levels to break your flow...by making faces, taking pictures with a flash at just the right moment...and so on.

by the end of the night our eyes were glossy and everything seemed a little bit fuzzy

Ben pretty much ruled the evening, mostly because we were all stunned by his wicked spinning technique, that is until Beans blew him out of the water in the last game with her new found my-thumb-hurts ball toss, while Teeniebear and Robowler proved to everyone that they don't need to win to have fun.

I'd go again.

a whole lot of holiday fun

Wow! Can you believe it's 2008?! Where has the time gone?!

Another year of holidays have come and gone, and again, another year where Beans and I spent it on opposite ends of the country. Missed my bunny terribly, but definitely looking forward to exchanging our fun stories spent with family and friends!

Ben and I spent the whole week on the island with his family, as his dad was working straight through the holidays as Kris Kringle in Miracle on 34th. Fun, right?

The family decided to book tickets to see the last evening show before Christmas, and we all piled in our cars and made our way up island to see Papa John in his element. It was a really nice way to kick start the holidays, plus we even got the backstage tour!

We stayed with my bff, Kepmen, in his new condo and apart from a few days that he went up island to be with his family, the majority of our "spanning time" was playing tennis on the wii. We didn't realize how much of a GAMER Kepmen was until we caught him addictively playing by himself when we weren't looking! ha ha

Christmas eve & Christmas night was spent with the family, eating and eating and oh, did I mention more eating? It was so wonderful to just spend some quality time with the whole family, rubbing our bellies and laughing about years past. Thank you to Kerry & Tom for hosting Christmas, our bellies and hearts were definitely filled with love :)

We were even able to meet up with my cousin and his wife, who are new transplants to the island. It was definitely a week filled with friends and family and a lot of good times.

The end of our trip was focused mainly on our friends, Amber and Karn, wedding(s). I say "weddings", plural, because again, it was an Indian wedding which meant multiple events and functions for the week. Since Karn is one of Ben's good friends, he made it to a few of the functions during the week, and together we attended the ceremony at the temple, and the following night the joint wedding reception-cum-new years eve party. It was a great night filled with a lot of friends, reunions, love and a whole lot of dancing.

A whole lot of shots of the dance party that ensued.

By the first day of 2008, Ben and I were ready to make our way back home and start out the new year right (with a serious post turkey cleanse!).

Hope you and yours had a wonderful holiday season filled with as much fun, food, love and warmth as ours.

Happy 2008 to everyone!

love,
teen

it's never to late to blog, am I right?!?!

On Saturday, June 30th, 2007, the clouds hovering over Vancouver finally parted almost as if the universe knew and smiled down on Melissa & Brian, as they wed in front of the beautiful north shore mountains.

Sigh. It was beautiful.

We held our breath and watched as they agreed to never part ways, clapped and cheered when they kissed to seal the deal, tossed petals in their face as they made their way down the make shift isle on the lawn of the Brock House and sighed the way our grandparents did when you knew you did something to warm their hearts.

And then we partied. Oh yes, we partied like it was 1999.

Melissa looked radiant, Brian so handsome and together, so in love and perfect.

Thank you for letting us share in your day. Best friends for life!

Love you guys :)
