Alice Young • Calligrapher

Alice Young is a good friend of mine, we met while working at a small Ad Agency just outside of Victoria, and has a unique artistic talent that I considered to be a peaceful art for the patient. She's an experimental calligrapher whose ambition is to modernize a very old tradition.

She's not the first, and won't be the last, who has taken on the art of calligraphy but she's got a prominent voice in the small group of practicing calligraphers and I'm proud to know her and am continuously inspired by her.

Since the beginning of Blue Skies and Daisies, we have had Alice Young listed on our website and contract out her work to anyone who is interested in a classy monogram. Her capabilities go beyond the monogram and if you're interested in seeing what she can do for your wedding design, you should contact her using any of the methods listed below. She's very nice and very helpful.

A Weekend On Vancouver Island

On Friday Teenie accompanied me to the Helijet launch pad to see me off to the island (a free standby ticket from Alice) and stayed with me up until Kepmen arrived on the Seaplane. I had to wait 6 hours to get on a flight, but in the end I understand that it was a lesson on patience, which is something I've been lacking lately.

Practice makes perfect!!

Once I finally got to Victoria, I did some walking around and met up with Alice at our designated spot. Whenever Alice and I get together we end up doing an insane amount of talking. It's wonderful. We talk about anything and everything and I feel open enough with her to talk about anything that's on my mind. The big topics of this weekend were finances and the wall street bail out package going on right now.

On top of talking, we took her dog for walks, drank coffee in her backyard, met up with a few friends and talked some more. It was lovely.

alice, brina and chetwyn hang out

Purchasing the Air Canada Flight Pass was the best decision I made for January 08. I was able to go to Calgary the first weekend and Victoria (Shawnigan Lake) the second weekend, to visit my good friend Alice Young ( www.calligraphy.ca ). We spent most of our time talking, walking, drinking coffee and eating delicious food. That's a perfect weekend to me.

I learned about some new books that I have to read, how to use the apostrophe properly, how SMART dogs can be and how much I miss hanging out with Alice.

NEXT weekend Rod and I are heading to San Francisco! Life is pretty fun.
